We've booked an area of Easy Tiger Brighton, which you may know better as The Hampton on Upper North Street, Brighton, from 7pm onwards. What better way to meet fellow NUJ members? And if you know someone who isn't a member but might like to join, bring them along.
To ensure we reserve the right amount of space we need to have an idea of numbers. So if you fancy coming, let us know.
And if that isn't enough excitement for one diary, don't forget we have a regular branch meeting this Thursday (Nov 29) in The Craft Beer Co pub. We gather from 7pm and start the meeting at half-past. It's a packed agenda (including the Johnston Press fall-out, help for freelances and mentoring for young journalists) but we look to be finished by 8.45. Some of us like to socialise afterwards, but it's not compulsory! Hope to see you soon.

Christmas Party!
It's nearly December and that means just one thing: the NUJ Christmas Party!
This year it will take place at 8pm on Monday 9th December at the exciting new venue Emporium on London Road, Brighton.
There will be entertainment, in the form of the Trades Union Movement's favourite rabble-rousing band Pog, free food, subsidised beer and, of course, the chance to meet other journos and their friends.

Brighton Branch Xmas Party!
Yes, it's that time of the year again. This year the Brighton Branch Xmas party is Upstairs at the Mesmerist on Tuesday 18 December at 7pm.
There will be a short meeting first to deal with branch business, then we have comedian Geoff Westby and a talk by Phil Mellows on The Politics of Drinking!
As the nation argues about minimum pricing, Phil Mellows, pub trade journalist and author of the Politics of Drinking blog, talks about the myth of binge drinking and the role the media plays in distorting the debate.
There's a free bar until the tab runs out (so get there early) and food. All welcome.
The pub is at 1-3 Prince Albert Street, Brighton, BN1 1HE. Contact: 01273 328542. See you there.

The Brighton and Mid-Sussex NUJ Christmas Party is taking place next week, Tuesday 20 December at Redroaster Coffeehouse, 1d St James Street, Brighton 8-10.30pm.
